England loves to shower America with flowers during special occasions or simple dates. Whenever America would pick him up for an evening out (since he is the one who does the asking out more often), England never fails to whip out a fresh bouquet of red roses straight from his garden.

America, who gets flustered every single time, jokes that he should be the one giving England the roses instead (although inside, he feels all giddy and looks forward to it the next time).

Before they got together they kept getting mistaken for a couple in the streets. England would be too surprised to respond right away, and America would instantly go along with it just to pester England, doing all sorts of things. Pulling him close, kissing his cheek, abruptly holding his hand etc. The entire time smirking, snickering, and giggling like a child of course.

Though one time when America went along with it, England got back at him by groping him, leaving America the shocked one that time as England pulled him on their way with a smirk of his own.

America has always been a touchy/feel-y sort of guy, hugging friends on first sight, slinging his arms around shoulders, grabbing when scared, even leaning on his better friends. Generally becoming America’s friend earns his sudden disregard for your personal space.

England has always been much more reserved, as per his gentlemanly standard. He enjoys his personal space, and gets annoyed with people who encroach it without his permission. He doesn’t give hugs easily (or much at all). Essentially the usual rule seems to be ‘Don’t touch me unless I touch you first’. So usually when touchier countries (Spain, France, etc) sling an arm over his shoulders (or what have you), he’ll politely shrug them off if he can. If they insist, he’ll back off altogether with a glaring look as if to say, “No, this space is mine, thank you very much. Kindly stay out of it.”.

However they seem to be the exception for each other, finding themselves in an odd sort of middle-ground.

In America’s case, he finds himself far more conscious of England’s personal space than anyone else, almost able to trace a literal circle in the air around England’s personal bubble. As such, every time he does go in it and hugs England or lays an arm around his shoulders, it’s far less casual and he does it far less often than with his other friends. He’s just more careful with it, not wanting to feel like he was making England uncomfortable or something…Even if you’ll absolutely never hear him admit it.

On the other hand, England is far more touchy with America than he is with anyone else. To him, it seems to stem back to when America was a colony. He would always pick America up, comfort him, carry him, coddle him, hold his hand as they walked along… It always made little America so happy after all. So it seems to follow that even now after everything, he would still have the urge touch his shoulder to catch his attention, straighten his tie when he’s a mess, be near him as they stand or walk.
Though even to his own surprise, England finds himself resignedly ignoring it the majority of the time when America does venture to hug him excitedly or drapes an arm across his shoulders. He has only ever had the urge to withdraw from America’s touch when he’s been angry at him. Also whenever England does hug America back, America still grins as bright as he did when he was small. England almost can’t help in these times to quirk something like a smile himself, it just far too cute. Though no one will ever hear him admit this either.

One of America’s hobbies is archaeology because he has a sort of fascination/obsession with history from before he was around.

He’s one of the youngest countries, yet also lumped in with the powerful and much older countries. So when he’s at meetings (for example) and the older countries begin remembering the times from before he was around or make allusions to it, he feels awkward and left out.

This began when he was forced out of isolation for the first time in WWI when England kept referencing his inexperience as a nation, citing his own experiences in wars America could only vaguely recall hearing stories of when he was small.

This only made America more determined to find out every detail about the past that he could without anyone else telling him.

Now having dug up so much, England has found America knows unnerving things about his own past he hasn’t bothered thinking about in years.

America seems to enjoy making goofy-grinned references to England’s far past just for the startled/shocked look that England gets on his face.

This however doesn’t mean America gets it right all the time. Occasionally he’ll still get a name wrong or places mixed up, which always earns him a long lecture from England correcting whatever America got wrong.

England is starting to suspect he does this on purpose however since he always has a grin on his face afterwards. America always denies this to his face.

If questioned about it by anyone else, he would shrug his shoulders and say something along the lines of, “Well, you can’t learn everything from digging through people’s old stuff, am I right?”.

WHAT THE HECK IS THIS? AN ANIME/MANGA FANDOM CHARACTER TOURNAMENT based on f_march_madness (format used with permission!). This is our SECOND YEAR RUNNING, and we hope it’s even more exciting this time around.

This is a single elimination, competitive animanga fandom wide tournament to determine THE BEST AND THE BRIGHTEST OF ANIME AND MANGA FANDOM.

SO HOW DOES IT GO?

animetournament will start out with a whopping NINETY-SIX fandoms. These will be split amongst two prelim voting posts. One character from each fandom will win their poll, and then advance to the next bracket, where they will face a character from another fandom.

Preliminaries: 96 fandoms
First Round: 96 characters
Second Round: 48 characters
Third Round: 24 characters
Semi-finals: 12 characters
Super Six: 6 characters
Final Three: 3 characters

The winner of the final three becomes the 2013 CHAMPION!

Hello everyone! It’s time to announce our project for Valentine’s Day this year. Since our Secret Santa ran late, we decided to postpone the event for a month. Thus, it will actually be ending on White Day, not Valentine’s Day. Everything else will remain the same.

For the fourth year in a row, we’ll be celebrating Sweethearts Week, a week long celebration of USxUK love, complete with prizes and the works. We hope that as many people as possible participate! It starts on Friday, March 8th and ends the next Thursday, March 14th.

The object of the project is for members to collect ‘Valentines.’ Valentines will be passed out by mods in reply to posts that have earned them. There are several ways in which to earn Valentines, and there’s no limit to the amount of Valentines you can collect. Members who collect the most Valentines will be awarded prizes.

When America and England were in the early stages of dating, they often went to jazz lounges and danced, sometimes with other people. America would usually sit on the sideline and watch England have his fun, mostly because he enjoyed seeing the usually uptight nation relax and unwind. The only genre that they won’t watch together is horror. This is not by America’s decree, but by England’s.

It was cute the first few times America got so scared by a movie that he couldn’t sleep for a few nights, but by now England feels like it’s just cruel to let America watch those ridiculous movies of his; that and he feels like he’s directly responsible for it, and he doesn’t want to live with the guilt.

That doesn’t stop England from intentionally frightening America on Halloween, though admittedly he’s toned it down in recent years.
